We started off being relatively close to these guys but our guide Gilbert kept telling us to get even closer. We were like WTF Gilbert aren't these guys territorial? We were obviously tentative but he and Bullet, our guard, laughed at us and assured us it was ok. In the end we were glad we did get closer as it allowed us to get a much better look at this pod of hippos.
The Hippopotamus sounds pretty funny, literally. I think they knew we were scared of them. They sound like they too were laughing at us! This whole experience wasn't very good for my self esteem! Listen for yourself... "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuZfchVIzio&feature=related".
