A sunset surprise!

Zilla, our host, surprised us with a amazing set up where we could enjoy our final sunset. Julia wanted me to take a picture of one of the many lanterns that where set up.

See you soon you big Baboon! I hope!

This guy was just as interested in us as we were of him. He was trotting along at a pretty good clip so I wanted to try and freeze his motion by keeping the aperture open and using a high shutter speed.

Girl in a green dress.

A young girl playing on the beach in Zanzibar.

A safari coffee

Julia in her "safari" hat enjoying a coffee before our morning excursion.

The Victor

This Water Buffalo scared the poop out of Amy and Kumbo the previous night/ early morning. He and another male thought that 5 feet from the foot of their bed was a good place to battle for territory. Needless to say they didn't sleep that much that night. This male was assumed to be the victor by our guide Gilbert.

Just another beautiful female Kobus ellipsiprymnus!

The Waterbuck (Kobus ellipsiprymnus) is an antelope found in wet grasslands in southern Democratic Republic of Congo and in Zambia. Found mostly near the water except when they are pretending to be Bushbucks. According to African myth the meat of the waterbuck is not edible, but this is untrue. It just tastes like shit.

Stupid tall grass!

A safari snob yawned as she pointed out the elephant. The rest of us where pretty excited to see him. We scrambled to get our cameras out to take a picture of him and we were all pretty loud and giddy with excitement. We were definitely annoying the "expert" safari veterans in the process. We got a few shots off before the guide started to drive away. I remember that there was a lot of tall grass in the foreground that was getting in the way of my shot. Stupid tall grass!

Working till the last minute

Besides the beautiful subject i'm not sure why I like this photo. Its not really in focus and i'm probably breaking a few composition rules. I guess rules are meant to be broken? I guess i like the imperfections and the softness on it. I remember it being pretty dark when i took this shot and i wanted to see how well the IS on the lens worked.

Gangster Girl

Just playing around on our way out to take a picture of the "super moon". Jules thinks this picture is embarrassing but i think its super cute. Good thing its my blog :).

An unexpected Roommate

Every time we came back from our evening safari we had the pleasure, or displeasure, of being introduced to whatever decided to crash at our hut for the evening. on this particular day it was this little guy. It was refreshing to be able to shoot a non moving target for a change. No matter how close i got to him he never even flinched! Even when i was shoving the lens mere inches from his face.

Zanzibar // Sunshine Hotel

Standing on the edge of the Indian Ocean looking back at the Sunshine Hotel.

a young lady in blue

Kumbo was in the middle of destroying me in a makeshift game of bocce ball when a group of kids gathered around to watch my embarrassing attempt at a comeback. After my inevitable defeat we sat back down and had a beer while the kids mimicked our game. I took the opportunity to get some shots, and took a couple of pictures as well ;P. The kids loved getting their pictures taken and then looking at the images on the cameras lcd screen. Everyones clothes on Zanzibar were so vibrant, especially against the beautiful white sand.

High Park, Toronto // Cherry Blossom Tree

Shannon and I were hanging out in High Park taking pictures of the beautiful birds and cherry blossom trees. I was lucky enough to get this shot but but I wish I payed more attention to how i got the washed out white background!
